Does Size Matter?

Curious if there are pros / cons to having a shorter rig Vs longer when it comes to RV's in Mexico. Will we run into more obstacles with a 36' that we wouldn't have with a 28'?

Thanks
  • We were fortunate enough to find a 32' DP. I would not want to drive anything much bigger though many do it. Here at El Manglar in Zihuatanejo there is room for one 40 footer.
  • Thanks Brian. Sounds like we would be fine in 36'

From your map it looks like you've gotten around, looks fantastic. We plan to spend about nine months per year in Mx. Buying a house down there and using the MH to come north during the summer months - June'ish through September ' ish basically. We have grand kids in Oregon and Texas, and want to see places in the states, se we figured a MH would play into our plans well. We would also use it to see different places in Mx too

I've been going to Mx all my life. Grew up in L.A. So TJ runs were common. As an adult we go to PV almost annually. I've always kept a low profile and have never run into trouble, even in my bigger drinking years. Do you ever feel more conspicuous when pulling through town in a 40' rig towing a taod (assuming you are towing)?
  • We have been driving our 40' motorhome around Mexico most winters for the past 10 years. There can be places where space is tight but we seem to always find a way. Parks and spaces in Mexico are often smaller than in the US - but then many spaces in places like US National Parks can be small also. Roads in Mexico tend to be narrower and may have more curves than the US - and turns may be tighter - but we still survive. Smaller can be better but we live in our Bus full time so it is our house so we feel we need the space. We also tow a car which we use to do much of our exploring.
