Driving Advice Please

We are taking our first really big trip from Kansas City to Phoenix. I get that we should drive I35 to OKC and then I40 west to Flagstaff and then down to Phoenix. Just wondering how many miles to plan for each day while driving the 5th wheel. Would like to get to Phoenix before 5:00 rush hour if possible.
  • plan on OKC the first night, Albuquerque the 2nd night, Flagstaff the 3rd night and into PHX mid afternoon of the 4th day.
If you want to do some sightseeing, it will take more time.
  • If you want to get there quick do 250-300 miles per day. But there are lots of things to see on that route and you may not want to go that far. Of course you have to go to the Caddilac Ranch and go to "The Steakhouse" in Amarillo. New Mexico is full of really great RV places to stop. And then all the fascinating Native American stops in the high country. Plus Painted Desert, Petrified Forest. And so on.

Have a good trip. KC looked good yesterday.
  • We usually plan on 250-300 miles per day. We like to be in a park and relaxing by mid- to late afternoon.
  • Rush hour in Phoenix starts around 3:30-4:00 pm depending on the day now.
