My daughter lives in Detroit, we drive all around the city. But I don't think I'd want to go to Toledo.
That time of day from the northeast suburbs, take 696 across southern Oakland County to 275, down to where it rejoins I-75 north of Monroe.
I-94 gets congested downtown and making it through the interchanges to get from I-94 to I-75 can be messy in the best of times, let alone during summer construction.
The "around" routes clear up by 10 AM and don't start getting congested again until about 3 PM. The real hot spot for tieups is the 275 junction with M-14/I-96, because drivers will block all four lanes trying a last-minute squeeze in at the exits.
