Rocmoc, you've been to Mexico already. As people said, these days you can't just pull off the road and camp.
Though in Baja, AND if you can't be seen from the road - maybe, at times. But a nice place where you would want to stay for more than just sleeping one night, will either have a good road access or somebody living there. So you're looking at some "camp".
Baja places like Concepcion Bay are "camps". Dry, but still camps. Somebody will come and collect - even when they don't provide any services. The very meaning of "camp" is different there, it's just a place where you can pay and stay. Can be a beach with an lone ranchero living on-site and no other campers so it doesn't look like a camp, like San Raphael for example. Or it can be a camp in Concepcion with many other campers, and permanent palapas, and a restaurant (and a dozen generators to listen). It's funny how many people are entrenched in 20-year old beliefs that small solar panel still costs several hundreds, and LED lights are all "wrong color", and so on.
