Dutch John Utah to Huntington UT

Hello: It's me again. Ok. so we've book CG for the first part of our trip in August, After Leaving Jackson Hole Wy, we're going to Dutch John UT by the Flaming Gorge. Now after we leave Dutch John, head back home (Murrieta,ca) We'll break up the drive and stop in Huntington UT. The road shown would be UT 191 South. About 200 or so miles. My question is: Has anyone traveled this route? If so, what's it like? Mountains? Steep grades? Fuel? etc.
thanks in advance..
Manny
  • there is a long grade down from the top of Flaming Gorge to Vernal, UT, with up to 8% grade and several switchbacks. take it slow and easy.
after Vernal, there is another mountain pass south of Duchesne that is a downgrade of 8% for 4 1/2 miles and then 6% thereafter.
Fuel at Vernal, Duchesne, and Price, etc.
After Price, the road is fine, no grades or problems.
