Sorry we got carried alway, being able to import items wether for our houses or RVs, I gather that many travell to Mexico in B or C and live half in Mexico and the rest in USA or Canada, I have met a few that do that, so importing items can get to be a hassle let alone the mordida, having receipts for items purchased with the intent of importing them helps with the tax, otherwise the aduaneros have a fairly good idea of the actual cost and can charge more, them pocketing the difference or requesting a higher mordida because you do not have a receipt.
Importing new items,
1. Do not open pacage, maintain original seals intact
2. Have the receipt with the item
3. If pacage was ordered and shipped leave shipping manifest on pacage and have the order number given by the seller, order confirmation number and the receiving papers from the transport company, UPS, post office, Amazon.
4. Present pacage and all paperwork to the aduanero.
5. Go and pay the tax at the ventanilla.
6. Keep all paperwork with the instructions if so aplicable once home
Importing used items is a whole other story, it will be up to customs to asses the damage to your pocket book.
One item strictlly forbiden....USED CLOTHING....new cloths only and again leave all labels on and price tags, if possible bring in with the stores hanger, just make sure that the anti theft device is removed at the store otherwise you will be in a heap of trouble.
