Well I'm not from the eastern part of our country, however I am going to guess all three items your wondering about are available just like out west here.
Diesel fuel in BC which is just above Wash State is everywhere, however it is usually harder to fin in larger cities than in the smaller towns, from my experience, however the bigger cities are getting better. We have 6 gas stations in our small city and all of them have diesel and sell DEF. DEF is also avalable at NAPA, Lordco and Canadain Tire, besides the gas stations.
As for propane I'm not sure where you get the idea it is hard to come buy up here because where I live there are 5 different locations to get propane. I have a harder time finding propane south of 49 then north of it.
