AHEM. rwbradley, to my view of the map, we are a huge part of the continent of North America, too.
Personally, I can easily take affront when residents of the US of A call themselves by that term, just as if the rest of us didn't live in an American subcontinent,
Re. the violence, I lack the certainty that we're so much more tolerant and keep our hands in our pockets. Examples of Federal Committees come to mind.
