Mexico needs gringo surface travel tourist revenues
The USA government does not "need" Mexican surface travel tourist revenue.
Mexicans must prove ownership of their vehicle and adequate USA auto insurance.
What is so restrictive about that? THEY DO NOT POST A BOND.
1) rving in Mexico is a very, very small piece of the pie. Most bring all of their own food so it's toll roads (if they use them) some fresh veggies and fuel if they don't have a newer diesel and go beyond their tank size. Rving in Mexico generates very little revenue. Bond is almost always returned unless you're dumping a vehicle.
2)Mexicans going to the U.S. are not rvers and pay for hotels (big hotel tax both state and federal), Mexicans pay a permit each time they enter the U.S. albeit six dollars but times millions of crossings.
3) Foreigners maybe asked for insurance (its on the increase) and we must prove ownership of our vehicles while in Mexico.
4) The U.S. has a debt of 19 trillion dollars. That's the equivalent of 9.5 billion dollars per year since the beginning of A.D. Mexico has reserves of 185 billion dollars in foreign bank accounts. The U.S. has 383 billion dollars including gold. Based on debt to savings ratio, they need us more than we need them.
