MEXICOWANDERER

All true :)
But try auto touring sometime and get the surprise of your life.
Many more than you would expect. Especially in the fancy places out of my reach.
The old-saw of stockpiling a bomb shelter faded years ago. Mexico's hypermarkets mocked the cargo haulers into red face embarrassment. RVers coming to the Baja peninsula still stock up but the new gigantic Ley market in Sta Rosalia put an end to that. Bahia de Los Angeles visitors still stock up.
Go to a garita some day. Spend a half hour and see southbound Mexicans carring in giant screen TVs furniture and everything else. In one hour in Tijuana I saw about twenty thousand dollars worth of stuff declared. RV cupboards are a joke in comparison.
What helps and is sorely needed is money put directly into the hands of hard working folk. One Indian lady in a small rural village in Oaxaca begged me to not pull up stakes after four months. It seemed I was contributing to village economy. Wealthy Mexicans do not need (or deserve) my money.
Sin embargo (regardless) both countries need to make all forms of tourism easier.
