I have found Mexican diesel to be as good a quality as NOB. In Baja there can be problems as the fuel is often transferred a few times. The cetane rating of Mexican fuel is much better than US fuel. The extra sulphur provides injector lubrication. There are a few truck stops with centrifuges for filtration and some with excellent filtration systems. One should not travel anywhere without spare filters. Even though there are dealers everywhere most of the PU diesels were not sold in Mexico until recently so parts can be a problem. Always buy your diesel from a large volume dealer. Diesel oil can be a problem. Most of the Mexican oils do not meet the current standards. 15/40 diesel oil is not as popular as single grades. You should be using CI or CJ in a 2007 plus truck. There are oil agencies for DELO in many large cities. Especially in mining areas. The mines do not use Mexican oil and you should follow their example. I concur with Tequila on using toll roads. Not only do you risk accidents on the free roads if you break down on a toll road help is nearby. There is a free towing service.
