Nope, and that is also why I don't fly anymore. The whole airport security scene is like walking back in time to Germany.
What you described is what we go through to travel into the U.S. from Mexico. They have x-ray machines and still take dogs in, sometimes interrogate before letting us cross.
The funny part is, if we are refused for any reason, we wait until there is a shift change or we go to the next bridge and get in rigth away. Their criteria is not well-defined.
It's all a game that really has done nothing for national security. The danger has always come from within.
