Fall Creek Falls SP, TN - Towing a 28' Denali TT

We were excited about FCF until we read a recent review in Trailer Life that spooked my DW about "formidable" steep pulls and "spiral roads that seem to climb or drop forever"... They had installed a chip on their big pickup which "acts like an engine brake" and it's now a piece of cake. While I have done some Mtns. in a 40' Diesel Pusher with jake brake, we're towing now with an (equipped) Expedition that is pretty maxed for our 9500#. Would appreciate your experiences -- we're Flatlanders, coming from Florida! Thnx
  • when we visited from the South, we took Hwy 111 from Chattanooga which is mostly 3 or 4 lane and entered at the south entrance. There is one somewhat steep grade around Dunlap TN but nothing that bothered us from "flat Florida" Maybe the office could give you more precise directions. Do not take Hwy 127.
Beautiful park, very wooded (no satellite) and many sites are short and not level. I would make reservations. The more level sites are in A Loop.
  • We pulled our 36ft 5er up with no problem and our friends came up with 40 ft MH.
Lots of falls in park and many in surrounding areas.
  • I wouldn't worry as much about the winding road as much as the short sites. Beautiful park with few sites long enough to handle a decent sized TT.
  • We were there last September. Beautiful park, nice drive but a bit windy. No problem with my 1999 F150 (4.6L) and 3800# popup. Some steep grades if I remember but nothing scary.
