What route out and back to FL is best? Any roads or routes that should be avoided? We were looking at maps and plan to make it to Sacramento, CA (family there) and want to tour, but don't want to head out on a route that pulling a tt on is stupid.
Anything to avoid?
Your questions are very broad. Being a bit more specific would help. For the Sacto area, avoid the freeways during morning and afternoon commute time. I like to take visitors up to Truckee, do the Donner museum, then to Sacto for Sutter Fort, then Sonoma for Vallejo's mission. It gives you a neat perspective on how the settlers came into CA. And of course, once in wine country there are a ton of activities.
