It may not save a lot of time but a less stressful route would be to get off I-5 at Hwy2, go east to Hwy 203 in Monroe. Hwy 203 to 202 in Fall City, up the hill, over the river and turn right onto Snoqualmie Parkway. A couple miles up you're at the end of Hwy18 at I-90. Take Hwy18 to I-5. Then its just the headache of getting through Tacoma.
