It really depends on where you live in NJ and where in Maine you want to go. But to get through Ct I would take I 84 from NJ. Small toll crossing Newburgh bridge (Merritt Pwy is illegal for anything over 7500 lbs) returning I would take GWB(no tolls) before 6:00 am week days or Sunday morning. Have a nice trip.
