99% of the locations, other then automated will take US dollars. Your issue will be they will exchange at $1 for $1. Keep an eye out for gas stations, they tend to offer a better exchange rate to encourage you to buy from them.
You will find a lot of automated scale houses in Canada, they will have big signs that tell trucks to report or bypass the weigh station. I always get flashed with the "truck report to station" only did so once and was told I did not need to stop. The system goes by length and weight and no way for them to stop it, will not get chased if you go right through.
