Sometimes I swear that those who claim the Alaska highway is so bad have never driven it. That or maybe they have not driven it in the past 25 years or more.
More likely they have driven it & tried to follow that 50kph sign thinking it meant 50mph & did not know or pay attention to the orange flags.
Another way to destroy the vehicle is to try to do a 3 month trip in 1 month. Slow down. See the bumps in time to slow down or avoid them plus have time to enjoy the scenery & that wildlife standing in the bushes roadside watching you go by.
The roads, especially city roads, in the lower 48 are far worse than anything than the north has to offer.
