Forget Greenville SC???

I'm north of Greenville, SC and have the option of small two lane road(Hwy 11)!to get over to I26 East or south through Greenville to pick up 26. From what I see on maps, I have to go through quite a distance on regular city streets(Hwy 276) before picking up I385. Any suggestions. I plan on going on a Sunday morning.
  • Hwy 11 is a Scenic drive. It will take you all the way to I 26 just North of Spartanburg. A nice drive most anytime. The Sunday church traffic someone mentioned is not an issue on Hwy 11. I ride that Hwy often, including Sunday's.

Stay on the Interstate to get to the Interstate!

Brian, I would stay on 11.

    Yep and picked up on

I was trying to tell him t avoid the city streets
  • I live right at 25 and 11. I'd take 11 all the way to 26. Faster, prettier, more relaxed.

Although, another option might be 25 to 290 to 29 going through Greer. I use that when heading south on 26. Not pretty or relaxed though.

It's a toss up between the three options for me.
  • We just traveled highway 11 from Devils Fork SP to 26 North of Spartanburg a week ago. Pretty good road. Not a lot of hills, not much traffic till we got close to 26. We had your same option. Glad we chose 11. F150 pulling a 22'TT.

  • Sunday morning in the bible belt equals lots of church traffic. Stick to interstate
  • SC Hwy 11 is 2 lane but it is a very good road. Coming from Hendersonville along US25 south I always used Hwy11 to avoid Greenville. During the winter when we needed a trip to get the motorhome out for a run we would do US25 south to Hwy11 to I26 back to Hendersonville.

It is the "Foothills Parkway" so there are curves, but nothing that cannot be driven at highway speeds and most of the time traffic is light.
  • Depends on where you are and where you are going???

Cleveland to I-26 via Hwy 11 is roughly 25 miles
