Electricity pricing is interesting. It's quite inexpensive if you use under the allotted amount. Once you go over that, it's right up there with US prices.
We can have 800 kwh per 2 month billing cycle at about 1p each. Once we go over that, the entire bill is charged at about 4p each. Then, you are stuck at that level for a billing cycle or two no matter what your usage is. Depending where you live in the US, that can be very expensive, or very cheap.
Thanks to Chris (qtla9111) who got us checking our meters daily until we learned how to use our electricity. We still check them almost daily. In California, we pay about $20US a month. In Zihuatanejo, it's been less.
However, we haven't needed to use the AC's yet.
Thanks for the info. Nissan leafs are sold in the bigger Mexican cities and I see the odd dealer with a Chademo fast charger. We get about 6 to 6.4 Km per kWh so you would have to analyze your driving needs on wether it makes sense or not.
