I am a 32' fifth-wheel owner plus have owned a beach home in Baja Sur, Mexico since 1973. I make the trip with the RV back and forth annually and load it to the gills on the way south. Going into Mexico, Mexican border inspections (Aduana) never bother to inspect the contents other than a brief glance, and I never worry about it. We usually cross at Tecate instead of TJ (because my wife does not like sewage smells)and have more than once have just driven the rig across with 'nobody' at the checkpoints...not a soul. Of course, I obey the rules and don't try to smuggle anything illegal..no guns, no drugs, etc. Within my RV, I have multiple flat screen tvs, computers, cameras, tackle, food of every kind, and really too much to remember. We usually stay at our Baja home for 6-8 months a year, so we cram every compartment with whatever we can think of for our stay.
Like Turtle-Toad says you will have no problem in taking anything in your Airstream that you would normally use. FYI, In the winter of 1973-74 I took my 30ft Airstream down to Mulege and parked it on the beach for the winter...about 650 miles south of San Diego. Another vehicle towed our 19ft boat. It was a wonderful way to start a relationship.
You can also ask this question on Baja Nomads, a Baja-related travel forum.
Note: per Baja Nomads. I have just tried to sign onto the forum a couple times in the last 2 days and cannot access it. Seems they are having some internet problems? So, I have a question....
HAS ANYONE ELSE BEEN ABLE TO SIGN ONTO BAJA NOMADS TODAY OR YESTERDAY?
THANKS.
