Gadsden,AL to Nashville,TN
Is anyone familiar with route 278 between Gadsden and Cullman? I am thinking of going that way to get on I 65 to avoid Monteagle mountain on the way to Nashville. And what about I65 to Nashville? Any mountains?

- Monteagle is 3 lanes going up on the westbound side. There are enough big trucks that go slow in them that you don't feel like a snail. I've done it and poked along like they did.

I agree compared to "Real" mountains out west "Mt Eagle" is just a big hill...not a mountain...in answer to your question US278 is a good road to I65 & once to I65 it is mostly flat land to Music City.- Why does everyone want to avoid Mt Eagle?
