Gaspe peninsula questions

After coming home via route 138 in Quebec, we have decided to do a loop on Gaspe' peninsula at some point (maybe next year).

Are there places that a 24 foot class c could overnight and get away with it or will we be required to use campgrounds?

We live in NY, is there some other area I should add to this trip? We already did baie comeau to quebec (but might consider adding this so we can spend more time on it)...nice drive.

We would most likely be doing this loop in May or maybe June. I know it will be cool. Cool is good!

  • Then I trust you have done the NB islands, Grand Manan, Deer Island, Campobello Island, not to mention St. Croix on the border.

Kings Landing. Saint John City Market.....

How's about Hartland Covered Bridge, Acadian Historic Village.

Skip Kouchibouguac. Too crowded thus, nature loses. Explore on your own.

PEI is what you discover on your own, just like anywhere else. They have the best provincial map going because of the symbols included. My favs. are senic roads icon and fish icon. Both are fun with my dogs.

I'll pop back in after others make their suggestions.

Re. Gaspe there are some parks I have not tried out.

  • Zippo in northern maine...any ideas?
New Brunswick: fundy np, alma, Hopewell rocks (loved that).

Any ideas for northern new Brunswick...thinking about pei.

  • A lot of municipalities in the Gaspe Peninsula have public parks suited to RVs. Some have overnight options, some just day use.

This is partly because of the usual construction workers holiday, which usually occurs at the end of July and the beginning of August. You can get the dates of that via www.google.ca and put in "Quebec construction holiday dates, 201x".

BTW what have you visited in New Brunswick or northern Maine?

  • Thanks Paoli, that is great news. Don't need to pay anything when we
are self containted (except for maybe every 4 - 6th night.

  • We took a 27 f motorhome around Gaspe....no problems finding any places to stay overnight.
  • We spent one night at the lighthouse at Sainte-Madeleine-de-la-Riviere-Madeleine. Grassy site for $10 on the St. Lawrence. Great View.
