We were staying at the West Glacier KOA last June 29th when the man was killed by a grizzly while riding his bike on a trail. Less than a 1/4 mile from the KOA. Although it was determined to be the bikers fault (he actually ran into the bear), you only saw groups of people hiking for the rest of our time there, outside and inside the park. Personally, make noise, let people know where your going and carry bear spray should be sufficient to having a pleasant experience hiking.
