Glacier Nat Park of Canada, bears, and group hiking

A group can run afoul of bears, as was illustrated by a group of 7 high schoolers who were mauled and chased by a grizz about 40 miles out of Talkeetna (AK). But you are safer in a group. But if you come across a food cache or cubs, all bets are off.

I think if it were me, I would try to hike with others I meet at the trailhead that also want to go in a group. Seems like, with a regulation in place, there would be others wanting to group up.
