Going to the Sun Road in Glacier NP

The Going to the Sun Road in Glacier NP is now open to traffic; motorists are advised to watch for fog and other weather conditions however. Enjoy the trip in one of our premier NP's and take the shuttle bus if you want to have a great time without having to worry about driving or if your vehicle is not permitted because of length.

We did the shuttle. Those old red cars with the pull down top.
This is the only way to really see all of the going to the sun road.
  • This is an experience that you should not miss, we drove from the west to the east in our truck. Beautiful scenery on the west side before the Road to the sun and the same on the east side around the south side of the park once you come down from the Road to the Sun. By going west to east you are on the mountain side of the road in almost 100% of the trip. The road is very narrow in some areas so being on the mountain side is where to be if you have any concerns. Having said that though the trip is a must do with to die for scenery looking up to where you are going and down from whence you came. Enjoy it is a beautiful trip.
  • If you want a white knuckle experience and the testosterone is flowing try driving the Sun Road both ways but probably not all in one day. I like the bus idea.
