I'm getting conflicting information. Can you drive a 25 foot RV from the St. Mary entrance to the West Glacier entrance of Glacier National Park? If no, are there campgrounds you can get to somewhere inside (besides St. Mary's)?

Vehicles, and vehicle combinations, longer than 21 feet(including bumpers) or wider than 8 feet (including mirrors), are prohibited between Avalanche Campground and the Rising Sun picnic area parking. Vehicle and vehicle combinations over 10 feet in height may have difficulty driving west from Logan Pass to the Loop, due to rock overhangs. Stock trucks and trailers are able to access Packers Roost on the west, and Siyeh Bend on the east.There are no campgrounds beyond the St. Mary area on the east side of the Going to the Sun road. Avalanche Campground is the furthest in on the west side.

If you ever saw the road you wouldn't even consider driving it in any vehicle! Westbound is OK since you are on the mountain side of the road but eastbound!!!

You can take route 89 to route 2 from the east to the west. It is 85 miles, about 35 miles longer, but it takes the same amount of time as taking going to the sun road.

Let there be no conflict in your information. The answer is NO. Do not attempt the length of that road from St. Mary's to West Glacier. I have been up and back down it from West Glacier to the pass at the peak in a Jeep Liberty, a smallish SUV, and would not want to have taken any larger vehicle on that journey. I do not know about the other side, but given the nature of the road I was on and the traffic on that road, you will not like the journey in a 25 foot RV, even if they let you make the attempt. Go around and take the bus. Trust us on this one.

To echo the other comments NO you do not want to take a 25' rv on Going to the Sun. Hwy 2 is scenic and takes you around the park. You can see all the campgrounds Here
