going west to california

my wife will be retiring jan of 2019, and we are considering a trip to las vegas and from there go to the northern part of California, wanting to see how that has change from the 1978, so I guess what I am wanting is a good travel route leaving from nc to vegas, then from vegas to alameda calif. will be pulling a pop up hard side camper.

    For the Vegas to Alameda leg, drop down to 395 and take that north to Reno. Then 80 west will get you across the Sierras and over to the bay area.

    You can't go wrong following old Rt.66 from Amarillo to Kingman! Buy a Rt.66 book to see what you want to look at!
