Good Sam Trip Planner

Yes, I did a Search and did not find the answer.
I have not used the GS Trip Planner in two years and find a totally different format. I watched the tutorial and set out to plan my trip. I put in all the options I wanted and pressed the Print button. What I got was one page (1 of 1) with only the driving directions from Point 1 to Point 2 (yes I clicked on itinerary). How do I get a print out that gives me all of the information that I need? Obviously I am missing something. lizzie

  • I had planned to do it in about 4 stages (as I have done with the "old" system). My first phase is from our place in NC to Kingman,AZ but I could only get it to print the driving directions, which I don't need. Fortunately I have saved all of my old GS Trip plans and when I get back to NC I will get them out. They are full of notes and will be helpful. Thanks everybody. Hope to see you on the road. lizzie

Lizzie, the GS trip planner has only short limits. When I started my planning for Alaska I could only "Plan" from Marietta Ohio to Denver because it will only do so much, the I did another section from Denver to Boise ID.

It took 6 different "planned trips" to get me to Alaska and back to Ohio.

To direct the routes you must use "Waypoints" and the system will only accept 15 waypoints per route. I needed more because I modified my route to stay off Interstates, and added stops for pictures, exercise trails, and goof off points.

This is correct, but I believe the limit is around 21 stops. I had to split our Florida to
Alaska and back into to two trips for a total of 36 stops.

Did you add your itinerary with all of your stops? Select campgrounds. You can then select only goodsam, public and/or private. Once all of your stops are entered, when you print you get the entire itinerary and map if you select that option.

When selecting campgrounds you can limit the number displayed by "search near my route". I use 5 miles.

    I hope this helps.
