Ever since the Canadian government put out advisories about certain areas of Mexico (I think starting in 2010 or earlier) the insurance companies have put restrictions on their coverage. You may want to check again, when I checked with our carrier back then they would cover us for accidents/injuries but not if they were connected to any violence (for example narco violence) related to the government advisory.
This is what I am trying understand, if the injuries does not result to any violence, we should be covered. I will check with another insurer.
