Grand Canyon - Zion (Virgin)

Looking at 64, 89, 389 avoiding Tunnel in the park

I am 37 ft pulling a Jeep

Thanks in advance for advise
  • Expect wind on 389, and be thankful if you don't get much. Just a normal part of life around here.

You'll pass through a pair of communities, Hilldale and Colorado City, which are primarily populated by FLDS polygamists. Many homes/buildings are left unfinished to skirt around property taxes on improved properties.

I think Dr Quick was referring to Pipe Springs National Monument.
  • I have used that route twice and it is a good two lane road. Not much traffic on the road. I was pulling a 28 FT 5th both times. There is a place along the way called I think, "Pipe Stone Spring". Kind of interesting.
  • Perfect route.

Watch your speed as you approach Hurricane, Ut on the last couple miles. You drop in to a 45 zone and you need to be doing it or a bit slower to not shuffle your stuff around.
As soon as it levels out in Hurricane take the first right turn (the street before the 4-way stop sign). This will get you to avoid the light on the main drag and give you more room to make the 2n right to head toward Laverkin. If you miss it, not big deal though.
