Green Angels

After a wonderful two and a half weeks in the cool climes of Guanajuato, the SUV broke down 60 kms south of Matehuala. It was a bad fuel pump.

Four federales passed me and never stopped. After an hour, here came a Green Angel. He tried getting me started and said he would call a tow truck. They came and got me to the shop in Matehuala where I spent Sunday and Monday night. The part came in by bus from San Luis Potosi at 9 p.m.

The mechanic got me on the road by 9 this morning. Funny part is, I had gone to the Autozone in San Miguel de Allende to buy a bulb for the rv a week ago. I parked next to a Green Angel and when I left I told him that all the rvers appreciate the work they do and that in my 15 years of rving I had never needed one but glad they were there.

It was my turn :) Everything turned out well and I arrived home by 2 p.m. Thanks to the Green Angels for staying with me until helped arrived and then coming by the shop yesterday to check to see how things were going.

Great people and they deserve a wave and howdy do whenever you see one.
  • That's really great to hear and it sounds like you were appreciative of their help and they enjoyed that. I do love how Mexicans stop for strangers that appear to be in trouble. We've never had to wait for the Green Angels - usually someone stopped to help us first. But it is nice to know about the Green Angels whenever we're on the road.

    Thanks for the post.
  • They don't get enough thanks. They got us an electrical mechanic a few years ago, and made sure all was well!
  • I pass out electrical repair treasures to them whenever I can. Harbor Freight has a cube LED battery light for a few bucks that the Angeles Verdes love.
