Heading from Ontario to Vancouver Island for the Winter
Friends are planning to do this. Any personal experiences? When to leave? What campgrounds might be open? Weather? Best route not through USA?

BC requires M&S or chains, depending of vehicle type.
Actually the dates are 1 Oct to 31 March.
Cars, pickups (even with campers) require M&S
Anything with something in tow, or commercial are required to carry chains
BC actually has stopped people for inspections.
Note: this is on passes and such, like TransCanada coming in from Alberta, BC-5 (the 'Coq').
