If you are not in a hurry and want to avoid the interstate through GA, look at taking US27 through GA to FL. We used to live near Carrollton GA and would take this route to the gulf coast, good roads, plenty of fuel stops and practically no traffic at all.
I worked temporarily in northern Kentucky for a few years and commuted home to Carrollton GA on weekends, by the time I got to Chattanooga I was tired of I75 and all that went with it, I would get off at Resaca GA, take highway 53 (4 lanes) to Rome GA and then pickup US27, good stress free ride and no Atlanta ****.
