Chris: My post was not a damning of Mexican healthcare. I have stated many times that the private system is often as good or better than US health care. The IMSS system is another story. I posted because I think everyone has to be proactive. Do not think that because there is a hospital close by they can provide proper care. Heart attacks in Canada or the USA are not always terminal. The emergency wards have all the latest medicines. There is a lady in SMA that is a health care professional. She writes articles on health care in Mexico. She stated that IMSS does not have the latest drugs for emergency health care. Not every city has a hospital with a Cath Lab. Without the latest drugs and a one or two hour drive to a decent hospital you will be dead before arrival! Gringos use IMSS as they are too cheap to buy proper insurance. Instead of worrying about criticisms of Mexico worry about helping forum members get proper care. If my post saves one life do I really care if it is critical of IMSS. Name one IMSS hospital in Maz or PV that has a good reputation. You live near Monterrey. One of the most modern cities in Mexico. Entirely different than most parts of Mexico. Why do wealthy Mexicans in Sonora get their health care in AZ.? Why do Mexicans that live within 200 miles of the border flock to US emergency rooms?
