Your advice was good. I agree that people need to know what their options are when they travel and plan to stay in an area for any length of time.
My personal opinion as to why people close to the border flock to U.S. hospitals? Some attempt and do receive free emergency care. Others have babies there so that they get U.S. citizenship. Others do it because they can afford it and it's fashionable.
