Henderson, La to Brownwood, Tx

OK guys, need some help here. We will be making this tow in the morning. How much is going to be four lane? Do I go through Houston or not? GPS, shows two routes. One through Houston, College Station and Temple. The other goes North on 287 at Beaumont through Crockett then 7 to Gatesville. That's where both routes join on to Brown wood. Any and all opinions welcome. Don't mind two lane as long as it's good. Thanks, John

    Completed the trip today. Great directions guys. Probably 80-85% of it was four lane. But it wasn't always a divided four lane. And the two lane was good. Thanks,again!

    I second the recommendation of 1971duster340. That's exactly the route I was thinking of.

    We go Beaumont to Austin on 105 and 290, so I'd use 105 from Beaumont to Navasota, 6 to Waco, then 84 West to Brownwood. Forget a Houston and Austin route. 105 is OK, wide 2 lane...6 is 50/50 2 lane/4 lane. 84 is mostly 2 lane. Hwy 7 is lots of 2 lane and not much shoulder.
