Hershey PA to Littleton MA

Which is the easiest route from Hershey PA to Littleton MA? Motorhome with toad. Middle of week.
  • Done that trip several times through Newburgh - Best route by far. Hershey - Worcester.
  • Agree about the trucks but have no issue with them. If they make you edgy, then going Aadkins way may be best. What I like about 78 is there are a number of truck stops that are easy on/easy off for fuel.
  • We take 81 to Scranton and then take 84, crossing the Hudson at Newburgh, continuing on 84 to outside of Hartford, where we take 91 to the Mass Turnpike, then 290 to 495 and on to Littleton.

It's a bit longer than taking 78 as recommended above, but 78 is loaded with speeding trucks and unpleasant to drive.

We drive to Littleton from VA every year and have tried a number of routes - going via 84 is definitely the most pleasant way.
  • Get yourself to 81. Take 81 to 78 to 287 then 87 and cross the Tappan Zee bridge. Stay on 87 to 684, up to 84, to I90 (the Mass Pike). From there you can either take I290 to Rt. 495 or stay on the Pike to 495. The Pike is a little further and there will be a little extra in tolls, but it's a straight shot. I290 goes through Worcester (you can wave to my son at school on the way by!), cuts off a little distance, but can be heavy with traffic. Take 495N to your desired exit. Some take 91 up through Hartford, which is a truck route, but may be less congested. Someone else may be able to tweak this a little better, but that's the route we take up from Gettysburg.
