Tropical Storm Rosa is the question. After suffering miss-or-hit rainfall predictions, I always maintain my guard and keep an open mind about holing up somewhere on asphalt.
When Rosa or the subsequent tropical depression crosses Sonora and Chihuahua I hope it drops inches of rain to help helpless farmers who have suffered drought for too long. The Tarahumara indians rely on the sky for their corn and beans. Cattle get fatter and people smile and that makes me smile.
Over the USA I hope it rains three feet in the Lake Mead watershed. Adding fifty feet of lake level would be blessing. Not at all remotely likely...
The peninsula desert blooms in glory after a good early autumn rain.
But I do not trust prediction percentages when it comes to sporadic road flooding. 60% is more optimistic than 100%. And a 55 mph crosswind is not a hurricane, but prudence always pays off. Smile if fortune smiles on you.
