Hobbs NM to San Angelo TX

I will be heading from Hobbs NM to San Angelo TX in early April, it looks like there are many ways to get from point A to point B, any likes or dislikes in the route options? Also plan to spend a few nights @ San Angelo SP and it looks like there is a northern loop and a southern loop. I am interested in any preferences that anyone has and even site specific recommendations, would like 30 AMP at least.

thanks

Jon

  • We stayed at the north campground in San Angelo State Park. Water and 30 amp hookups in a nice quiet campground. Turkeys and deer were abundant in the morning an evening. We were passing thru on our way to Kerrville in February.
  • Seems to be between going to Big Spring or Midland. I would go to Big Spring, just because it seems to have less oil field traffic the last time I went through (last summer). Although now that the price has dropped the whole region may not have much anymore.

I stayed at the San Angelo Wal Mart one night but otherwise I am not up on the RV parks in the area, as mentioned RVparkreviews.com and Google satellite view should help.
  • We've taken US 180/62 from Hobbs to Lamesa and then US 87 down to San Angelo several times never stayed in San Angelo so I can't help with camping spots. You may want to check RV Park Reviews for that.
