Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal

Has anyone arrived after the last ferry and stayed in the lanes outside of the toll booths? I know that folks do that at Tsawassan but I'm not sure of the set-up and slop of the lanes at Horseshoe Bay. We'd like to arrive late, stay in the trailer, and get on the first ferry. Comments?

  • Thanks elfranz. The school parking lot sounds like a great spot. The Lions club web site shows their rates for car poolers which seems to be the main group using the lot. I'll heck with them a out overnighting with a truck and trailer but it should be OK. $'s go to a good cause as well.

  • There is a parking lot close to Gleneagles Elementary School on Marine Drive (minutes from the ferry)
It is free during the week, but the Lions charge for parking on the weekend.

  • There are no gates when you exit the highway and head down to the toll booths at HSB, so unless they setup temporary barriers over night, which I do not know, I don't see why not.....however, it is a steep hill down to the toll booths, and only flattens out right as you enter the booth. Not an overnight sleeping friendly spot at all. Too steep. RV toll booth is the left lane as you come down the hill. Be careful not to mistakenly take the left lane Horseshoe Bay downtown exit near the top of the hill. Once you pass the downtown HSB exit, there is no way out if you change your mind.
  • The approach to the ferry dock is very steep, there is no way you could get close to level for the night. I am talking roll out of bed steep.

Why not take the ferry from Tsawwassen to Duke Point? Or are you heading to the Sunshine Coast?
  • As you note, they allow that at the rural terminals, like Duke Point and Tsawassan, not certain they do at the more urban ones.

Have you checked with the BC Ferry folk (ya, I know getting an answer can be.....)
