How long for the trip North?

How long are y'all planning for next year?

No reservations, no solid dates yet but so far we are looking at about 140 days door to door. Not counting the air miles but the trailer miles will be a bit under 14,000 & figure at least a couple thousand worth of additional running around.
  • VeeByes is just asking a straw poll of how much time others will be there - they are seasoned travelers themselves. ST
  • The next time we go, hopefully in 2 years, we are planning on late May thru early Sept. 11000 miles for us. Last time we did it in 7 weeks. That was WAAAAY to fast. Hoping next time time to enjoy more of Canada!
  • I did it in 5 weeks...10k miles total on coach. 3k on toad
  • From Missouri, nine weeks and 10,000 miles. We wish we would have stayed longer in Stewart/Hyder to see the bears. That would be the advantage of going to Stewart later, but it will likely be crowded.
  • This is one of those things that can vary greatly from person to person depending on your plans, temperament, time available, etc.

Last summer, I took 73 days door to door from Vermont, traveling just over 13,000 miles. Would more time have been nicer? Of course...but I didn't feel overly rushed either, and as a working man I felt fortunate to be able to take that much time off.
  • We travel about 200 miles a day. Then add extra days.
We traveled from Eastern Washington to Alaska and back. Took us about 6 weeks on last trip there. We could/should have increased our time by at least two weeks.
Add in you route time from East coast would appear your timing is about right.
  • We are going to drive the new road from Inukik to Tuktoyaktuk NWT this summer. One way from our place is just about bang on 4000 km ( approx 2500 miles) wife was raised in Stewart BC so with visiting and travel we are figuring 90 plus days. We hope to be in Stewart for Canada Day ( July 1st) and “ would like to be” in Inukik for the second week of July for the Great Northern Arts Festival. However that means driving fast north from Stewart, so we may just skip Stewart on the way north and stop there on the way south. However everything is open to change only thing for certain is we are going in 2018.
