How to get Data in Canada?

We will be going into Canada for about a month this year. Does anybody know if I can get a Data plan for just a month or so? I have US cellular. I travel in Canada a lot but I always just turn off the phone.. This trip I would like to get data. The sales people at US cellular give me that deer in the head lights look when I ask them about it.. Any help would be appreciated.

  • This backwards but leads me to believe that similar plans are likely available in the S. One was already identifies. Rogers in Canada has a "deal" for 5$ a day for US access. Seems pretty pricey to me. I will have to have a chat with Telus to see about my phone. We have 5 phones in the group and I vaguely remember that there is no roaming charges. However, the passage of time has eroded some of the memory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • sdianel, OP is looking for a data plan. Those appear to just be calling plans, unless I missed something.
  • Ask US Cellular so you get correct info. With AT&T you can purchase special plans for Canada which include data-your company probably has something similar. Keep in mind hot spots are great but if you break down in a more remote area you won't have one.
  • If you have verizon you can use your phone just as though you were in the US for a $2/day fee. YOu only pay that $2 if you use your phone. that is for phone minutes and data. Much better deal than they offered even a year ago. I go to BC a lot so it works great for me. But most of the time I'm out of cell range anyway.
  • If you can do a phone from T-mobile that has data it will work where ever a Canadian Cell phone would operate. Or Metro PCS.
  • As we went through Canada last week we found a lot of WiFi hotspots to use. Leave your phone in airplane mode and just use the hotspots.
