You have picked two bad times to drive through (or around NYC) - you will encounter Monday rush hour still at 10 am and the Saturday night in the City traffic late Saturday afternoon. Take any of the recommended routes already suggested.
In NJ you still may encounter traffic around Great Adventure amusement park on both of those days on either the NJ Tpk or the Garden State.
