Personally, I hate hate hate driving through Las Vegas so I would take Hwy 40 to the Kelso cut off. (And if you haven't been to Kelso,its an old restored train depot and just about abandoned town and worth the stop. After Kelso, keep going straight on Hwy 127 to the town of Beatty. (If you have the time, a quick stop at Ash Meadows Wildlife Refuge is also awesome. There is a pool of the bluest coolest water I have ever seen.)
