MEXICOWANDERER

The folks who chose the site of Las Penas put it up far beyond the height of the tallest tsunami. A solid rock spine (promontory) sticking out into the Pacific ocean. Mexico City sits atop a quivering bowl of jello. Such a magnitude that would rattle our dishes here fells buildings in the capitol.
News reports have NOT A CLUE as to the toll of the quake. Ten million people live in areas that get cut off by broken roadways. Brick stacked upon brick shacks have collapsed. It's going to take five or more days to get a grip on the mortality toll. Other huge cities like Puebla are situated much closer to the epicenter but are not built atop a silt laden swamp.
Keep a reserved nature about believing fast news reports. They are typical B.S. assumptions.
If an agency issued a MODIFIED MERCALLI scale rating as to the quake, believe that. You can look up the scale on the internet.
A friend's sister lives in Polanco, a wealthy area. Hector said they are without power. Utilities are underground.
