Huntsville, AL to Buccaneer State Park, Mississippi

We'll be making this drive next weekend.
I recall someone voicing a concern about needing to enter Buccaneer SP from a particular road.
Any advice?
Thanks

Any trouble going from Buccaneer to Bayou Segnette in Louisiana? New Orleans is our next stop after Buccaneer.

Same caution. When you leave go back to route 90 the same way you came.

  • Be careful about which route you take to the park. I agree with taking Lakeshore from 90. There are a couple other crossings that are okay but I don't remember what road/street they were on.

Very nice park BTW. We were there just last week.

The above route will assure that your rig will NOT get hung up on railroad tracks. Some of the other railroad crossings are too steep up and down... very dangerous.

If you watched the national news 2 weeks ago you would have seen the train hit the buss that was high centered on the tracks in Biloxi, a week before that train hit a beer truck, same thing; Most of the train crossings in that area are very steep; and the train runs about 50 mph in that area.

    Amen!

In this case your GPS is not your friend. Don't let it talk you into anything but Lakeshore from route 90 to Beach.
  • You need to go down Lakeshore from US-90 to Beach Blvd and turn left. DO NOT attempt to cross on Clearmont Rd.

Google Maps in SAT VIEW has nice view of the Buccaneer State Park, Mississippi and the parking area for RV's along the gulf at the Silver Slipper Casino.

You can zoom on down and see several big rigs setting there...
You can also move the view along the road coming into to the area just fine.

We always use GOOGLE MAPS to view the area of new places we are going to visit...

  • Follow the signs off Hwy 607/90 (Exit 2) to the Silver Slipper Casino (Lakeshore Rd.). When you get to the gulf turn left.
