The EAST end is 26 miles from the Main area. It is reached by traveling on the East Rim Drive (Desert View Drive) and the famous 'Watchtower' is there along with Desert View campground. Yes, it is part of the national park and the views are of the Grand Canyon. We've been there and stayed in the campground. It's a very quiet area compared to the Main Area. The other quiet area is the North Rim.
Cameron along Hwy 89 is not part of the national park. You'd have to drive on Hwy 64 west to reach the EAST end of the park.
