That is exactly right. For the official Grand Canyon. Which, incidentally, was my point. The area jwmll is talking about is between that East (Watchtower)area and Cameron. It is NOT in Grand Canyon NP and not along the Colorado River. The LITTLE Colorado River is east of this and runs pretty much north and south and then turns east west. There is a pulloff there you can take to see which is very, very minor compared to the Grand Canyon. It is hardly marked and for good reason; not much there.
OK, that being said I am going to digress just a little. The Little Colorado goes east and cross Hwy 89 and then turns south and, at one point on the res it has the Grand Falls. Don't know how I came across this but we went to find it one time and finding it was a chore but we had gotten there a couple of days after a snowstorm and lots of water going over it - it is spectacular! I heard it is wider than Niagara and also higher if you figure all the cascading before the final very tall falls. It is also known as the Chocolate Falls due to the water being very brown. We will return and see it again someday.
