Hwy 120 to Yosemite Closed Today

Hwy 120 is closed at this time due to a fire that has jumped the Tuolumne River and is heading towards Buck Meadows and the highway. 120 over Tioga is still open as is 140 and 41.

  • That map is from yesterday. Today it's coming back west. They are evacuating Yosemite Acres and PML is on standby to start evacuating. I have a few thousand dollars worth of tools in a shed up there so I'm going to drive up now and get one I can out of my shed.

Sounds like it's coming back toward Pine Mountain Lake. I have 20 acres of land between Pine Mountain Lake and the fire so it will go up if the fire gets there. I'm not too worried about it as I don't have anything on the land, but there are lots of houses around my land that could go. The further west it moves the more houses there are.

Here's a link to the current fire map. It looks to be heading south by south east, away from Pine Mountain Lake.

  • The fire blew up over night. It's now over 10,000 acres. The 146th Air Lift Wing of the National Guard out of Port Hueneme is flying C-130s and Black Hawks on this fire. They were doing night drops last night.
That's got to be a scary thing.

Seeing the smoke from a number of fires here at the house.

Yup, we've got lots of fires burning right now and it looks like we'll have a dry lightining storm tonight. God help the wildland fire crews.

Guess I left just in time.....we were at Yosemite Lakes last week and I understand they are getting lots of smoke and ash their now. Not evacuated as of yet...or at least not earlier this afternoon.

At this point, to get an RV out of Yosemite Lakes you would have to through the park.
